Chew, Dougherty tabbed as CAC Players of the Week for second consecutive week

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – For the second consecutive week, the Salisbury University volleyball team swept the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Week honors as senior defensive specialist Hailey Dougherty and sophomore outside hitter Amanda Chew were selected as the CAC Players of the Week on Monday.

Chew collected CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after she was unanimously named to the Randolph-Macon Invitational All-Tournament Team following Salisbury's three wins this past weekend. Chew tallied 56 kills (4.00 per set), 27 digs (2.64 per set), five blocks and four service aces in three matches. Chew registered a career-high 22 kills in Salisbury's 3-1 win over Averett on Friday.

Chew leads the CAC in kills per set (4.11), ranks second in kills (115), tied for second in service aces (15) fourth in attacking percentage (.284_

Dougherty picked up the CAC Defensive Player of the Week award after notching 56 digs in three matches to pace the Salisbury defense to three wins over Averett, Randolph-Macon and Marymount at the Randolph-Macon Tournament. Her 4.00 digs per set helped the Sea Gulls remain undefeated on the season.

Dougherty is tops of the CAC digs per set rankings (5.11) and sits second in digs (143).
