Stouffer named CAC Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year

YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference is releasing its end of the year awards this week and on Tuesday announced that Salisbury University volleyball senior Katie Stouffer was named the Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Stouffer becomes the first Salisbury volleyball player to receive this prestigious award.

Stouffer excelled on the court but more importantly in the classroom embracing what it means to truly be a student-athlete. She posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.97 as an Early Childhood Education & Elementary Education double major while minoring in Athletic Coaching.

Stouffer garnered numerous postseason accolades including two academic awards being named a CoSIDA Academic All-America and an Academic All-District honoree.

She is a four-year member of the Salisbury volleyball team and has achieved great success while wearing the maroon and gold. Stouffer completed a spectacular senior campaign as she was recognized as the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year. She completed her senior season with 444 kills and a CAC-best 4.48 kills per set. Stouffer also ranked 25th nationally in kills and 12th in the nation in kills per set.

Her 444 kills ranks fourth in Salisbury history for a single season. Stouffer's biggest record from this past season came in what would be the Gulls' last match of the season against Christopher Newport University on November 3 in the semifinals of the CAC tournament. She became the all-time leader in kills for a career surpassing 2009 graduate Stacey Krebs (1,734) setting a new mark with 1,747 after her 22-kill performance against the Captains.

For Stouffer's career she collected numerous accolades such as a four-time All-CAC First-Team selection, a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, a two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region Team and All-American selection.

However, the recognition doesn't stop there as Stouffer has also shined off the court appearing on the Dean's List all four years at Salisbury. She also participates in numerous clubs and organizations including Young Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, The Restoration Project, Relay for Life, Shore Up, and Holiday Family Sponsor.
