YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University volleyball team enters the 2015 season as the No. 2 team in the Capital Athletic Conference, after advancing to the CAC championship game in 2014, as voted by the conference coaches in the 2015 CAC Preseason Volleyball Coaches' Poll, the league announced on Friday.
The Sea Gulls earned 62 points in the poll for the second spot. Last season, Salisbury ended with an overall record of 22-10 with a 5-4 clip in the conference, before falling to No. 1 Christopher Newport University in the conference title game.
CNU tallied 81 points with nine first-place votes to take the top spot in the conference. The University of Mary Washington tallied the other first-place vote and 59 points to come in behind Salisbury at third, while No. 4 St. Mary's College of Maryland (57 points) and No. 5 Marymount (Va.) University (54 points) rounded out the top five.
The Sea Gulls begin the 2015 season at home, playing host to Washington (Md.) College on Tuesday, September 1 at 7 p.m., at Maggs Physical Activities Center.
