GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Capital One Academic All-District volleyball teams were announced on Thursday, and sophomore Katie Stouffer of the Salisbury University volleyball team was named to the NCAA Division III District 2 team.
Stouffer, an Early Childhood Education major, boasts a 4.0 grade-point average, while also being one of the Sea Gulls' key leaders on the court. She currently leads the team with 412 kills and is second with a .279 attack percentage, while averaging 3.75 kills per set. Stouffer also is fourth on the team with 33 total blocks.
Earlier in the season, the Frederick, Maryland native took sole ownership of the No. 2 and No. 3 spots in Salisbury history for kills in a match. She totaled 31 on August 30 against Swarthmore College to move into the second spot, before passing her own effort with 32 on the very same day in the next match against Clark (Mass.) University. Stouffer has reached double-digit kills in 23 of SU's 30 matches this season.
Salisbury will take the court next in a Capital Athletic Conference semifinal-round match at Southern Virginia University on Thursday night; the match is set for 6 p.m.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.30 GPA and be a starter or key reserve on her team. Being named to the All-District team, Stouffer is now eligible to be selected as an Academic All-American; that team will be announced on Tuesday, December 9.
