INDIANAPOLIS - The Salisbury University volleyball team received an at-large bid to its third-straight NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship tournament, announced during the Division III women's volleyball selection show on Monday.
The Sea Gulls have been put up against former Capital Athletic Conference-foe Stevenson University in a first-round match, as the teams will travel to Juniata College, the host of the regional tournament, in Huntingdon, Pa.
Salisbury is 17-0 all-time against the Mustangs, with the last matchup between the two teams taking place Nov. 5, 2011, with the Gulls coming out on top, 3-0.
The winner between the Sea Gulls and the Mustangs will take on the winner of another first-round match between Juniata and Gallaudet University; Salisbury defeated both teams earlier this season, beating Gallaudet twice, 3-0, 3-0, and Juniata once, 3-2. SU is now 31-26 all-time against the Bison and 2-7 against the Eagles.
The Sea Gulls (29-5) enter the tournament as a Pool C berth, after falling in the CAC tournament championship game to Christopher Newport University on Saturday.
