LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Salisbury University volleyball team moved up one spot in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Coaches Poll, which was released Tuesday, as the Gulls are now ranked No. 23.
Salisbury (13-1) went 5-0 in the past week, winning four of the matches by 3-0 scores; included in the wins was a championship in the Sea Gull Classic. Salisbury won seven sets this week in which it allowed its opponent 14 points or less.
Washington University in St. Louis, receiving 23 first-place votes, remains the top-ranked team in the nation while Calvin College climbed to No. 2, pushing Wittenberg University down to No. 3. Hope College, receiving the other first-place vote, jumped up to No. 4 in the nation while Christopher Newport University dropped one spot to No. 5.
The Sea Gulls return to action tonight, as they travel to St. Mary's (Md.) College for the team's first Capital Athletic Conference road match of the season. The opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
