CULVER CITY, Calif. – Fastpitch News released its 2018 Division III Softball Preseason All-American Teams on Tuesday afternoon. Salisbury University softball senior LeAnne Collins was recognized by the organization as she was named to the first team.
Collins turned in a spectacular junior year campaign in which she batted .537 on the season and posted a team-best slugging percentage of .787. Collins totaled 11 doubles, seven triples, and three home runs while knocking in 30 runs. She would also score a team-high 48 runs in 2017 while posting an on-base percentage of .583, which ranked seventh in the nation.
In the outfield Collins was equally as impressive recording a .975 fielding percentage with three outfield assists and was part of a pair of double plays.
Salisbury opens its season on Saturday, February 24 when it hosts the Sea Gull Early Bird Softball Tournament. The Sea Gulls will take on Keystone College at 10 a.m. before squaring off against The College of New Jersey at 12 p.m. that afternoon.
