FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for swimming on Tuesday and Salisbury University senior Peter Moyer was named the men's swimming athlete of the week.
Moyer collected five individual victories in Salisbury's previous four meets, helping lead the Sea Gulls to a 3-1 record over that span. He was also a part of four relay victories, earning one in each of the four meets.
The Laurel, Maryland native earned two first-place finishes against McDaniel College, with the first coming in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:50.97 and the second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.09. His relay team in the 400-yard freestyle relay also placed first with a time of 3:36.92.
Against Virginia Wesleyan University, Moyer clocked a time of 55.18 seconds to finish first in the 100-meter freestyle while also helping claim the top spot in the 200-meter medley relay with a time of 1:58.07.
In Salisbury's most recent meet against Marymount (Va.) University, Moyer piled up two more individual victories. The first came in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:28.68 and the second came in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:03.22. Moyer helped finish the team victory with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall in a time of 1:31.97.
Despite falling to the University of Mary Washington, Moyer helped bring home first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:18.30.
Moyer and the Sea Gulls are back in action when they host St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday, January 26 at 1 p.m.
