Men's and women's swimming downed by Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams traveled to take on the University of Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon, with the men falling 184-78 and the women dropping a 203-59 decision.


Josh Brown recorded the lone individual victory for the men, winning the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.80 seconds. Brown later placed second in the 100-yard IM, recording a time of 55.66 seconds.

The men ended the day with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Andrew Ward, Jake Ryan, Peter Moyer, and Richard Baker clocked a time of 3:18.30.

Moyer added a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, just missing out on the top spot with a time of 1:48.34.

Baker also recorded a second-place finish, with his coming in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.29 seconds.

Kyle Russell placed second in the 100-yard breastroke, clocking a time of 1:02.74, while he teamed with Baker, Brown, and Moyer to place second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:40.33.


Natalie Eakin collected two individual victories for the women, with the first coming in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 30.00 seconds. Eakin later placed first in the 100-yard backstroke, recording a time of 1:05.88.

The men's and women's swimming teams are back in action next Saturday, January 19 as they travel to take on Marymount (Va.) University at 2 p.m.
