YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's swimming team placed five athletes on the All-Capital Athletic Conference teams, the organization announced Friday afternoon.
Freshman Okan Eyigor earned first-team honors in the 200-yard backstroke after breaking the school record and claiming gold in the event at the CAC Swimming Championships. The Istanbul, Turkey native's top finish is the first since 2009 for the Sea Gulls.
Sophomore Will Gough found his way on to the second team for two events, both being new program records. The sophomore landed second-team honors in the 100-yard freestyle, as well as the 200-yard freestyle relay. In the 100 freestyle at the CAC Championships, the Ellicott City, Md., native raced to a time of 46.50 and a silver medal.
In the 200 freestyle relay, Gough along with senior Chris Franklin, junior Rich Ambrose and sophomore Jake Blazer broke the school record with a time of 1:26.36 and posted a silver-medal finish to make their way on to the all-conference second team.
The Salisbury swimming teams broke a total of 11 school records during the three-day championship event, taking gold in one.
