SALISBURY, Md. – The Maggs Physical Activities Center swimming pool has been recognized by Aquatics International as the 2011 Best in Aquatics for a University/School for its year-round versatility and facility amenities.
The 6-lane, 25-meter indoor pool is not only the home of the men's and women's swimming teams throughout the school year, but it also caters to the students, faculty and staff of Salisbury University along with those who have memberships. Memberships are available to alumni, the Institute of Retired Persons and the President's Club.
Salisbury also opens its doors in the summer for community members to take part in learn-to-swim programs. With a 1-to-5 instructor-to-student ratio this makes for the ideal environment for learning the fundamentals of swimming.
The facility also features large glass windows that allow for natural light to stream into the indoor space and give an open-air feel to the pool, along with a newly constructed outdoor sun patio perfect for sunbathing.
Inside, the state-of-the-art fans and ventilation keep both swimmers and spectators comfortable. The pool also features ample elevated seating and a tot dock area, perfect for those new to the water.
With the strong support of Salisbury University and the word-of-mouth praises from the community the Maggs Physical Activities Center swimming pool continues to flourish.
