SALISBURY, Md. – The third-seeded Salisbury University men's soccer team will host sixth-seeded Christopher Newport University in a Capital Athletic Conference tournament first round game on Saturday, October 27 at 2 p.m.

How we got here

The Sea Gulls went 11-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in CAC play. Salisbury won three of its final four games to secure a first round home game, which included wins over No. 8 University of Mary Washington and Christopher Newport. The Sea Gulls finished the regular season just a game out of first place.

Christopher Newport finished the regular season with a 7-8 overall record and 3-4 conference record. The Captains dropped three of their final four games, all by a score of 1-0. Christopher Newport ended the season with a 2-1 win over second-seeded St. Mary's College of Maryland, securing the sixth seed and a trip to Salisbury.

Christopher Newport held Salisbury without a shot on goal for the first 88 minutes, but Robbie Budd capitalized on a cross from Stephen White, heading in the game winner with just 1:38 remaining in regulation. Trevor Brookhart posted a season-high seven saves for his eighth shutout of the season.

The senior is second in the CAC with an .841 save percentage and 0.69 goals-against average while ranking third with 11 goals allowed on the year. Brookhart has also posted a conference-best nine shutouts on the season.
