Video: Men's soccer tops Misericordia
The Salisbury University men’s soccer team hosted Misericordia University in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, September 16 at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium. The Sea Gulls earned their second shutout of the season in a 4-0 victory over the Cougars. The first half was dominated by both defenses, leading to a 0-0 score at half. Salisbury keeper Trevor Brookhart made a reaching save in the early going to keep the game locked at zero. Sophomore Dolph Hegewisch got the scoring going for the Sea Gulls just eight minutes into the second half after receiving a long pass from Beau Johnson. The goal was Hegewisch’s first of the season. He quickly added to his season total and gave Salisbury an insurance goal just over seven minutes later. Ryan Spadin also scored his first goal of the season after receiving a pass from Cameron Wilson and bending a beautiful shot into the lower right hand corner of the goal, extending the Sea Gull lead to 3-0. Stephen White capped off the scoring with a little over two minutes remaining in the game after a Misericordia defender misplayed Kevin Eriksen’s pass into the front of the goal, giving Salisbury a 4-0 victory. The men’s soccer team returns to action this Wednesday, September 20 as they travel to take on Stevenson University at 7 p.m.
