Eiben, Staedeli named to NSCAA Scholar All-Region Team

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team proved it is not just one of the best teams in the region on the field but in the classroom, as well. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its 2015 Men's Scholar All-East Region Team, and two Sea Gulls earned the honor.

Junior back Nathaniel Eiben was named to the second team and senior goalkeeper Drew Staedeli was earned third-team honors. This marks Staedeli's second consecutive year with the award, having been named honorable mention last year.

Eiben, who was named a first-team All-Capital Athletic Conference performer, carries a 3.48 grade-point average as a finance major. He anchored a defense which finished the year leading the CAC, and ranked 19th in the nation, in team goals-against average with a 0.62 average. Eiben scored four goals and added an assist on the offensive side.

Staedeli carries a 3.39 GPA as an accounting major and was named to the All-CAC Second Team. He finished the year ranked fifth nationally with a .890 save percentage and 21st in the country with a 0.63 goals-allowed average. He led the CAC in save percentage and ranked second in GAA.

The Sea Gulls went 13-4-3 during the 2015 season, winning the program's eighth CAC title and qualifying for the NCAA tournament for the 13th time.
