The Capital Athletic Conference released its weekly awards on Monday, naming men's soccer senior Drew Staedeli the Defensive Player of the Week.
His performance last week set two new career highs in saves. He only allowed one goal in two games, as the Sea Gulls tied Christopher Newport University 1-1 on Wednesday and Frostburg State University 0-0 on Saturday in double-overtime games.
Against CNU, Staedeli had nine saves with a .900 percent save percentage. His save total set a career high, but would only last until Salisbury's next game, when he stopped all 10 Frostburg shots on goal.
Between the two games, Staedeli played all 220 minutes in the goal, boasting a .950 save percentage for the week.
This is the third CAC Defensive Player of the Week award that Staedeli has received during his career as a Sea Gull.
The Sea Gulls will be travelling to Southern Virginia University on Monday, October 26th for their next game. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
