SALISBURY, Md. -- The Salisbury University men's soccer team claimed Top-25 honors in the final rankings for the 2013 season in both the NSCAA and D3soccer.com polls, the organizations announced Tuesday afternoon.
In the NSCAA rankings, the Sea Gulls were placed No. 19, while in the D3soccer.com poll were ranked No. 14.
SU concluded their season with an overall record of 18-4, including an 8-0 mark in the Capital Athletic Conference. The Gulls advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, falling to national champion Messiah College, 3-0.
The Falcons claimed No. 1 in both polls with a unanimous 25 first-place votes in the D3soccer.com ranking, after defeating Rutgers-Camden University, 2-1, through two overtime periods in the national championship match on December 7 in San Antonio, Texas.
In final statistics for the season, Salisbury ranks No. 2 in shutout percentage (0.68) with 15 shutouts on the season, while placing sixth in the country in team goals-against average (.49).
