Salisbury moves up to No. 16 in poll

MINNEAPOLIS – The Salisbury University men's soccer team moved up in the top 25 poll from No. 25 to No. 16, the website announced on Tuesday.

The Sea Gulls jumped nine spots in the poll after going 2-0 during the week with wins over Marymount (Va.) University and the University of Mary Washington. The Gulls won the games, 8-1 and 2-0, respectively.

With the successful week, Salisbury has started its Capital Athletic Conference schedule off with a record of 2-0-1.

There was some movement at the top of the poll as Trinity (Texas) College regained the No. 1 ranking. Messiah College moved up to No. 2 from No. 4, and Amherst College joined the top five at No. 3, moving up from No. 6. St. Lawrence University dropped from No. 1 to take the No. 4 spot, and the other new member to the top five was Brandeis University, moving to No. 5 from No. 7.

Salisbury (7-1-1) will look to continue its success in 2012 as the Gulls travel to York (Pa.) College for their next game on Saturday. The game is set for 2 p.m.
