SU up to No. 20 in poll

MINNEAPOLIS – The Salisbury University men's soccer team rose to No. 20 in the latest top 25 poll, the web site announced.

Salisbury (11-2-3, 7-1-0 CAC) defeated Hood College, 7-0, Saturday and St. Mary's (Md.) College, 3-0, Monday to lock up the Capital Athletic Conference regular-season title and top seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Sea Gulls have a first-round bye in the tournament and will host a CAC semifinal Nov. 1.

SU received 109 votes in the poll to finish ahead of Pacific Lutheran University (108), Montclair State University (64) Luther College (54), Thomas More College (49) and Medaille College (38).   

The top five teams remained unchanged from last week's voting. Messiah College (18), Christopher Newport University (four) and St. Lawrence University (three) shared first-place votes and were atop the poll. Messiah earned 615 votes, CNU 593 and SLU 582.

The Gulls close the regular season hosting Stevenson University at the SU Soccer Complex Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
