YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its weekly award winners on Tuesday and Salisbury University men's soccer junior Kyle Simmons was named the first CAC Defensive Player of the Week for the 2011 season.
Simmons played a key role in Salisbury picking up two wins in the 2011 Elmer Lord Classic, as the Gulls were named co-champions and Simmons was named the event's Most Valuable Player.
Salisbury allowed just one goal in its wins over Penn State University-Altoona and Eastern Mennonite University. The Gulls' opponents combined to get off just 11 shots, only five of which were on goal.
