BALTIMORE – The organization Inside Lacrosse released its Week 2 Division III Media Poll on Thursday morning and Salisbury University remained pat at its No. 2 ranking after posting a 1-0 week.
The Sea Gulls, who pushed their record to 3-0 with their second straight road victory by downing host Widener University 16-3 on February 16, totaled 246 points and received one first-place vote.
Wesleyan (Conn.) University remained atop the Division III world as it earned 259 points and picked up 12 of the 13 total first-place votes. The Rochester Institute of Technology opened its season with a win to hold strong at No. 3. Tufts University and Amherst College rounded out the top five at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
Salisbury was joined in the poll by Capital Athletic Conference rivals York College of Pennsylvania and Christopher Newport University. The Spartans (188) moved down one spot to No. 7 while the Captains (67) dropped two places from last week to come in this week at No. 16.
Salisbury returns to action on Saturday, February 23 when it hosts No. 6 Gettysburg College in a rematch of last season's NCAA National Semifinal. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium.
