Tucker named IMLCA Mid-Atlantic Defensive Player of the Year

AVON, Conn. – The Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association released its 2018 All-Region Player of the Year Honors on Wednesday morning and Salisbury University senior defenseman Kyle Tucker earned recognition as he was tabbed the 2018 IMLCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Defensive Player of the Year.

Tucker, who was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region team on Tuesday, June 12, picks up his eighth postseason award and third defensive player of the year honor. He completed an outstanding senior season appearing in all 24 games making 23 starts, scooping up a team-best 98 groundballs, causing another team-high 49 turnovers, while also adding in three points on the offensive end netting one goal and dishing out two assists. Tucker helped anchor a defense that ranked 23rd in the nation allowing a goals against mark of 7.14 during the 2018 season.

Tucker completes his career appearing in 93 games for the maroon and gold, scooping up 249 groundballs, causing 140 turnovers, and totaling five total points including two goals.

He was also named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association First Team All-American, USILA Scholar All-American, and First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference. Tucker has also collected two defensive player of the year awards from the USILA and Eastern College Athletic Conference as well as being named the 2018 CAC Player of the Year back in May.
