Men's Lacrosse holds at No. 1 with big week ahead

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association coaches' poll and the rankings, as announced by the organizations on Monday.

Last week the Sea Gulls (15-0) picked up two wins. In its first game last week, Salisbury took down No. 20 Christopher Newport University, 19-5. Salisbury followed that up with another Capital Athletic Conference win, this time over Frostburg State University, taking down the Bobcats, 13-3.

In the USILA poll, Salisbury is at No. 1 with 419 points and 20 of the 21 first-place votes. Rochester Institute of Technology stays at No. 2 with 400 points and the other first-place vote. RIT is followed by Tufts University (378 points), Denison University (335 points), and St. Lawrence University (312 points) to round out the top five.

In the rankings the USILA poll is mirrored as Salisbury stays at No. 1 following its 2-0 week. Following Salisbury is RIT, Tufts, Denison, and St. Lawrence.

Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, April 13 when it travels to No. 7 York College of Pennsylvania for a 4 p.m., matchup. With a win against York, Salisbury would secure the top seed in the CAC tournament.

Following the York contest, Salisbury will host No. 15 Cabrini College on Saturday, April 16 for another battle of ranked squads. That game is set for a 1 p.m., faceoff.
