Salisbury ranked No. 20 in poll

MINNEAPOLIS – The Salisbury University men's basketball team is off to its best start since the 2006-07 season, winning its first four games, including a 68-65 win against then-No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan College last week. That strong start is receiving notice as the Sea Gulls cracked the Men's Basketball Top 25 Poll.

The Sea Gulls (4-0), who are ranked No. 20 in the first regular-season poll of the year, are making their first appearance in the poll in the 13 years that the rankings have been available.

Salisbury earned 127 points in this week's poll, 24 points behind Birmingham-Southern College, which sits in 19th place.

Virginia Wesleyan dropped to No. 5 in the poll, and is receiving one first-place vote along with 479 points. Augustana College is the new No. 1 team in the nation with 610 points and 15 first-place votes.

The Sea Gulls travel to Hood College on Wednesday, Nov. 30 for their first Capital Athletic Conference contest of the 2011-12 season.
