The No. 25 Salisbury University football team earned a 33-0 win against visiting Rowan University to improve to 7-0 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday, October 28. The Sea Gull defense pitched its second consecutive shutout, just the second time in program history that has been accomplished, with Patrick Bernardo’s 10 tackles leading the way. Senior Brady Curley, back after missing the past two games, got the scoring started, scampering in from 46 yards out for a 6-0 Salisbury lead on the game’s opening drive. Quarterback Brandon Lewis scored on a 9-yard run in the second quarter and closed the first half by dropping this 33-yard touchdown pass to Damien King. Dandre Dennis was able to power his way in from 2 yards out in the fourth quarter, and freshman quarterback Jack Lanham recorded his first career touchdown pass, hitting Blake Joppy down the right sideline and Joppy out ran the defense for the 88-yard catch-and-run. Senior safety Shane Gaines capped the shutout, intercepting this pass by Rowan quarterback Brian Furlong late in the fourth quarter, closing out the win. The Sea Gulls now head north, where they will take on No. 14 Wesley College next Saturday, November 4, beginning at noon.
