Sea Gulls hold at No. 23 in poll

MINNEAPOLIS - The Salisbury University football team held strong at No. 23 in the nation in the Top 25 poll, the organization announced on Sunday.

The 4-1 Gulls earned 91 points in the poll to keep hold of their spot, which they earned last week.

The Sea Gulls are coming off of a 62-33 victory over William Paterson University on Saturday, setting the program record for single-game rushing yards with 651 yards. Senior Jerome Johnson and junior Connor Canonico both set career highs in rushing yards in the game with 204 and 164 yards, respectively. Both players scored two touchdowns in the game.

Salisbury is currently tied for first in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with No. 4 Wesley College, which has been in the national top five all season. Wesley (543 points) is joined by No. 1 University of Mount Union (619 points and 19 first-place votes), No. 2 Linfield College (598 points and six first-place votes), No. 3 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (572 points), and No. 5 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (493 points) in the top five. 

Fellow NJAC member Rowan University is ranked No. 21 in the poll with 102 points.

The Sea Gulls head out on the road for their next game, going to Kean University in NJAC action on Saturday, October 24; the opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
