SU up to No. 8 in AFCA poll; still seventh in voting

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University football team climbed to No. 8 in the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) Division III Top 25 Poll and held at No. 7 in the top 25, the organizations announced.

Salisbury (5-1, 3-0 Empire 8) defeated Hartwick College, 37-7, on Homecoming Saturday to earn 730 points in the AFCA poll and 472 in the poll.

The Sea Gulls rose one sport in the AFCA poll and trails No. 7 Hobart College by just six points. The top-six teams stayed the same with the University of Mount Union (1,049 points, 41 first-place votes) and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (1,007, one) sharing first-place votes.

Salisbury trails No. 6 Wesley by 30 points in the poll. The top-eight teams stayed the same. Mount Union (623 points, 23 first-place votes) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (598, two) continue to lead in that voting, as well.

Salisbury hosts D3football's 21st-ranked team, Alfred University on Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium. Game time for the Family Weekend game is noon.
