FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly baseball awards on Monday and Salisbury University freshman Xavier Marmol was named the league's Pitcher of the Week.
Marmol received the honor after pitching a complete game shutout over York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon to help lead his team to a series sweep over the Spartans. In only the second start of his college career, the freshman allowed only three hits and one walk in the contest while recording three strikeouts.
Marmol has already built up some impressive numbers on the season with a 6-1 record, 20 strikeouts and a 1.66 earned run average over 38 innings of work.
The team returns to action on Tuesday, April 16 when it hosts Penn State University-Abington beginning at 3:30 p.m.
