Grasso's 200th hit, Oster's complete game help Sea Gulls sweep weekly awards

YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference league office released weekly baseball honors for the week ending March 18. Senior pitcher Jeff Oster was recognized for the third time this season as Pitcher of the Week while senior infielder Pete Grasso earned conference recognition for the first time this season, recording his 200th career hit over the weekend.

Grasso was spectacular at the plate for the Sea Gulls going 8-for-11, including a perfect 7-for-7 between the Wesley College game and game one against the University of Mary Washington. He totaled six RBI, at least one in each game, one double, and a batting average of .323 or better in each game. Grasso also recorded two slugging percentages over 1.000 and totaled a percentage of .800 for the weekend.

In the win over Wesley Grasso not only was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI including the game winner in the bottom of the eighth but he also notched his 200th career hit in the maroon and gold. He now ranks eighth all-time for Salisbury with 203 hits for a career.

Against Mary Washington on March 18 Oster turned in a complete game allowing just two hits, one run, and a walk while striking out nine batters. It was his third straight win in as many starts for the Sea Gulls.

Salisbury returns to action on Tuesday, March 21, when it hosts Rowan University. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
