SALISBURY, Md. – With Hurricane Sandy impacting the Middle Atlantic and Northeast Regions of the country this week, the schedules for the Capital Athletic Conference fall tournaments have been altered, the league announced on Monday.

No CAC tournament games will take place before Thursday, Nov. 1, as field hockey, men’s soccer, volleyball and women’s soccer have all been affected.

The most alterations have come to the volleyball tournament’s schedule, as the playoffs were set to kick off on Tuesday. The opening round will now be on Thursday night. Salisbury University held a first-round bye, after earning the No. 1 seed in the field. The Sea Gulls will host a semifinal match on Friday, Nov. 2, beginning at 7 p.m., at Maggs Physical Activities Center. The championship match, originally slated for Saturday, will take place on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m.

The field hockey, men’s soccer and women’s soccer tournaments all succeeded in getting the first rounds played over this past weekend, and will all see their semifinal rounds played on Thursday, Nov. 1.

Salisbury’s men’s and women’s soccer teams, both the No. 1 seed in their respective tournaments, will each host the University of Mary Washington, provided the fields at the SU Soccer Complex are deemed safe and playable, on Thursday, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Field hockey, the No. 2 seed in the field, was originally scheduled to play on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The CAC semifinals have been pushed back one day, to Thursday. The Sea Gulls will host No. 3 Wesley College, beginning at 6 p.m., at Sea Gull Stadium.

The championship matches for men’s and women’s soccer and field hockey, will remain as scheduled, for Saturday, Nov. 3, games times to be determined.
