GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Salisbury University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Rowan University on Saturday to compete in the Inter-Regional Border Battle. The men's team finished ninth while the women's team captured a 16th-place finish.
Senior Alison Schwartz led the Gulls with a 46th-place finish. Schwartz came home in a time of 23:08.5 while averaging a mile time of 6:12.3.
A trio of Salisbury runners finished within six seconds of each other as Abigail Potter crossed the finish line in a time of 23:54.7 to place 89th and Liana Foianini came in just behind her teammate in a time of 23:54.9 to finish 90th. Junior Carly Sniffen finished just behind her teammates, completing the race in 24:00.0 flat to place 96th overall.
Sophomore Ashley Mazer crossed the finish line in a time of 24:18.1 to place 105th, turning in an average mile time of 6:30.9.
The men's team was led by sophomore Branson Oduor, who garnered a top-20 finish, placing 17th overall, crossing the finish line in a time of 25:20.1.
Conner Masteran completed the race in a time of 26:28.0 to place 74th overall.
Junior Emmanuel Porquin and freshman David Strickland finished seconds apart from each other as Porquin crossed the finish line in a time of 26:39.5 and Strickland came home in 26:50.7. Porquin placed 84th while Strickland placed 90th, respectively.
Andrew Robey rounded out the men's side with a 122nd-place finish after crossing the finish line in a time of 27:33.0.
Salisbury will return to action on Saturday, October 28 when it travels Newport News, Va. and the campus of Christopher Newport University for the Capital Athletic Conference Championships. The meet is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
