Men's cross country ties for second in preseason poll

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference released the 2017 Men's Cross Country coaches poll Friday morning and Salisbury University was selected to finish tied for second. The Sea Gulls earned 69 points in the voting.

Christopher Newport University was selected to repeat as conference champions. The Captains garnered 81 points while receiving nine of the 10 first-place votes. York College of Pennsylvania picked up 69 points and the remaining first-place vote to finish tied for second with the maroon and gold.

The University of Mary Washington finished fourth in the poll with 56 points while Frostburg State University rounded out the top five after receiving 50 points.

The men's team will look to senior Malcolm Milton and junior Conner Masteran to lead the way in 2017.

Salisbury opens the season on September 2 when it hosts the annual Fall Classic at Winter Place Park starting at 9:45 a.m.
