YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its cross country athletes of the week on Tuesday and Salisbury University sophomore Ryan Jackson was named the Male Athlete of the Week. This marks the second time in the 2011 season that Jackson has earned the distinction.
Jackson paced the Gulls at Saturday's UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, placing third in a field of 255 runners. En route to his tremendous finish, the Laurel, Md., native broke the 25-minute barrier, marking the first time in at least 13 years that feat had been accomplished by a Salisbury runner.
Jackson finished the race in a time of 24:52.67, as he helped Salisbury to a fourth-place team finish, out of 37 teams.
The Sea Gulls are off this week before hosting the Don Cathcart Invitational at Winterplace Park in Salisbury on Oct. 1.
