NEW ORLEANS - The Salisbury University Sea
Gulls earned 2007 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country
All-Academic Team honors, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross
Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday, February 26.
Salisbury posted a 3.24 cumulative grade point average this year.
The Sea Gulls finished second in the Capital Athletic Conference
championships this season and placed seven student-athletes on the
all-conference team. Salisbury is joined by CAC foe Hood College
(3.46 GPA) on this year's USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Team.
Hamline University had the highest overall team grade point average
(3.74) and Amherst (3.64) was named the Team of the Year.
An unbelievable total of 141 Division III women's programs
received the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team honors this year compared
to 112 schools from last season. Just over a third of all Division
III institutions (390) who sponsor women's cross country received
the honor. In addition, 30 of the 32 teams in the championship
field at this year's NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships
were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA
Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team
cumulative grade point average.
