1998 Season Recap

The 1998 Salisbury State University men's and women's cross country teams each posted top-3 finishes at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships and earned a spot into the NCAA South Regional meet. Although each squad ran well at the regional meet, neither was able to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The women did have one runner selected to run in the championship meet as junior Kerri Bowers finished in 78th place.

The SSU men's team was led by sophomore Larry O'Hara, who posted team-high finishes in eight of nine races.  O'Hara collected four top-5 finishes including a victory at the Wesley College Invitational. The Sea Gulls were also paced by the efforts of juniors Blair Morse, Eric Ratcliffe and Max Snavlin. O'Hara and Snavlin were each distinguished as All-CAC first team honorees.

The SSU women's team was led by Bowers and freshman Suzy McCulloch, who won the Wesley College Invitational and Dickinson Open before placing first at the Mason-Dixon Conference Championships held in Frostburg, Md. McCulloch made the most of her rookie year as she led the Sea Gulls in seven of nine races. Bowers claimed All-CAC first team laurels while senior Caroline Rolker was named to the second team.
