HIGHLIGHT VIDEO: Volleyball vs. York (Pa.)
The Salisbury University volleyball team took to the road on Wednesday evening as it traveled to York College of Pennsylvania for a crucial Capital Athletic Conference matchup. The Sea Gulls raced out to an early 1-0 lead behind a 25-15 victory in the opening set but proceeded to drop the next three to the Spartans to fall 3-1. Amanda Chew and Nicole Venturelli posted a team-best 10 kills in the match and were the only two Sea Gull players to tally double-digit kills. Chew totaled 35 attacks and posted a hitting percentage of .143 while Venturelli totaled 36 total attacks and a hitting mark of .167. It is Venturelli’s third consecutive match with double digit kills while it is Chew’s second in her last three. Gianna Savarese finished the night with nine kills on 18 attacks to tally a team-high hitting percentage of .333. She also made her presence felt on the defensive side putting up six blocks as part of a defensive effort that tallied 16 for the match. Hannah Sullivan helped contribute to that number tallying four herself including two solo to aid in the team total of six. Salisbury returns to action on Friday, October 26 when it travels to Frostburg State University for the Frostburg Quad. The Sea Gulls will face off against the host Bobcats at 6 p.m.
