Sea Gulls finish regular season with tri-match sweep

YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University volleyball team closed out the regular season on Saturday at York College of Pennsylvania in a tri-match with the Spartans and Lycoming College, defeating both teams in three set sweeps.

Salisbury 3, York 0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-21)

Junior Katie Stouffer led the Sea Gulls with 17 kills in the match, while junior Shannon Russell and sophomore Sydney Davis both chipped in with six.

Three Sea Gulls posted double-digit kills, with freshman Kelly Surkovich leading the way with 17. Russell added 13, and junior Gina Fischetti notched 10.

Sophomore Rachel Pierson led the setting with 39 assists.

With the win, Salisbury closed out Capital Athletic Conference play, posting an 8-1 record in the conference this season, earning the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CAC tournament.

Salisbury 3, Lycoming 0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-22)

Stouffer again led the way with another 17-kill match, while sophomore Samantha Chubb added six in the contest.

Russell led the defense with 12 digs, while senior Kacey Franz added 10.

Pierson again led the team in assists with 22.

The Sea Gulls now look forward to the conference tournament. As the No. 2 seed, Salisbury earned a first-round bye and will host a semifinal match on Thursday, November 5 against the winner of a first-round match between third-seeded University of Mary Washington and sixth-seeded Frostburg State University.
