SU grabs 3-0 victory at Penn St.-Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Salisbury University volleyball team picked up its second Capital Athletic Conference victory, topping Penn State University-Harrisburg on Wednesday night in a three-set sweep (25-7, 25-13, 25-12).

The Sea Gulls were paced by sophomore Katie Stouffer's nine kills. Classmate Jordan Lawson chipped in with six, while junior Colleen White and freshman Samantha Chubb both tallied five.

Four SU players led the defensive effort with six kills each, including senior Michelle Meehan, junior Kacey Franz, and sophomores Krista Pecenka and Shannon Russell.

The freshmen duo of Alexis Howatt and Rachel Pierson continued to control the setting, with Pierson leading with 18 assists and Howatt adding 11.

Chubb grabbed three more points by leading the team with three total blocks (two assisted and two solo), and Howatt notched five service aces for a team high.

The Sea Gulls return home on Saturday, October 25 for their next match, hosting York College of Pennsylvania at Maggs Physical Activities Center; Salisbury will also be celebrating the careers of its three seniors before the match on Senior Day.
