YORK, Pa. – Sophomore outside hitter Katie Stouffer, of the Salisbury University volleyball team, was honored as the first Capital Athletic Conference volleyball player of the week of 2014, the league announced on Wednesday.
Stouffer garnered the award after a weekend in which she planted her name in the Salisbury volleyball record books with the No. 2 and No. 3 most kills in a single match with 32 against Clark (Mass.) University and 31 against Swarthmore College on Saturday.
Leading the Sea Gulls to two five-set wins in the games on day two of the tournament, she had a .420 hitting percentage, while posting a .364 percentage for the SU Opener weekend tournament and putting down 78 total kills between the two days.
The Sea Gulls will be in action again on Friday for the first day of the Sea Gull Classic tournament against Virginia Wesleyan College at Maggs Physical Activities Center; the opening match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
