YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University volleyball team had four players named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference teams, which was tied with Christopher Newport University and University of Mary Washington for tops in the CAC, the league announced on Tuesday.
Smith and Stouffer have come on strong this season to lead the SU attack with 326 and 323 kills, respectively.
Smith also ranks second on the team with 59 total blocks and fourth with 161 digs; she set a career high in Salisbury's, 3-2, win over Juniata College on Oct. 12 with 20 kills, while registering a .405 hitting percentage and two blocks.
In her first season with the Gulls, Stouffer boasts a .272 hitting percentage and was named the CAC Player of the Week on Oct. 22 after leading SU to wins over Marymount (Va.) University and Southern Virginia University. She is second on the team with 353 points and tied for fifth on the team with 34 blocks
Meehan earned first-team honors after her third season as Salisbury's libero and top defensive specialist, as she leads the Sea Gulls with 560 digs this season, averaging 4.75 per set. She is also a threat as a server, leading the team with 48 service aces this year.
Junior Julie Poston made her second appearance on an All-CAC team, as she has been named to the second team for the second-consecutive year.
Poston is third on the team with 265 kills and 286.5 points and is tied with Stouffer for fifth with 34 blocks; she carries a .306 hitting percentage, as well. She posted a season-high 16 kills to help lead Salisbury past Mary Washington in the CAC tournament semifinal round, while hitting .275.
Salisbury now looks forward to the NCAA regional tournament at Juniata College, starting on Friday; the Sea Gulls will take on Stevenson University in the first round, and the match is set for 5:30 p.m.
