YORK, Pa. – Freshman outside hitter Katie Stouffer was honored as the first Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the Salisbury University volleyball team this season, the league announced on Tuesday.
Stouffer garnered the honor after leading the Sea Gulls to a 2-0 record during the week, with a 3-0 win over Marymount (Va.) University on Wednesday and a 3-1 win over Southern Virginia University on Saturday. She tallied 12 kills against Marymount and 15 kills against Southern Virginia, as both totals were team highs.
Her three block assists gave her 28.5 points for the week, while adding eight digs.
The Frederick, Md., native came through with clutch kills against SVU, as she registered the winning kills in both the second and third sets of the match, giving SU 26-24 victories in both frames, and she had a .500 hitting percentage in the match.
Stouffer and the Sea Gulls will be in action on Tuesday, as they host Goucher College at Maggs Physical Activities Center at 7 p.m.
