Salisbury drops in top 25 poll to No. 23

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Salisbury University volleyball team dropped to No. 23 in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association Division III Coaches Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday.

The Sea Gulls, who earned 129 points in the poll, took their first loss of the season on Wednesday, 3-2, to Johns Hopkins University, before sweeping the Hawks Invitational on Friday and Saturday with wins over Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) College, Ithaca College, State University of New York at Old Westbury and State University of New York at New Paltz.

The top five consists of No. 1 Calving College (1194 points, 46 first-place votes), No. 2 Hope College (1105, one first-place vote), No. 3 University of St. Thomas, Minnesota (1073 points), No. 4 Emory University (1051 points) and California Lutheran University (1005 points).

The Sea Gulls will be back in action at the Blue Jay Classic at Elizabethtown College on Friday and Saturday; their first match will be on Friday at 4:30 p.m., against the Richard Stockton of New Jersey.
