Long distinguished as CAC Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference Player of the Week awards and Salisbury University senior libero Gabby Long (Bel Air, Md.) was distinguished as the volleyball recipient for the week of Sept. 21. This is the first time this season that Long has garnered this award.
The 2008 All-CAC first team performer led the Sea Gulls (12-1) to a perfect 5-0 week and the top spot at the SU Invitational. Salisbury swept the tournament as the maroon and gold won four matches over Richard Stockton (3-0), Haverford (3-2), Allegheny (3-1) and Baldwin-Wallace (3-1). Last Wednesday, SU defeated CAC foe York (Pa.) College, 3-0.
The Bel Air, Md. native was honored to the All-Tournament team after she totaled 92 digs in four tournament matches, including a 32 dig performance against Haverford on Saturday. She now has a team-high 249 digs on the season. Long finished the week with 101 digs, 12 assists, three kills and five service aces.
The Sea Gulls will remain at home, as they host Capital Athletic Conference foe Mary Washington on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m.
