Downes named Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference Player of the Week awards and Salisbury University senior outside hitter Rachel Downes (Salisbury, Md.) was named the volleyball recipient for the week of Sept. 8.

Downes had a huge weekend for the Sea Gulls (3-1) at the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg College. For the weekend, the All-American recorded 40 kills, 23 digs and 13 blocks. Her best match of the tournament came against the hosts, as she finished with 12 kills, four digs and two blocks.

The Sea Gulls will be back in action this weekend as they travel head to Pennsylvania for the Washington & Jefferson tournament.
