Krebs honored as CAC Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference player of the week awards and Salisbury University senior outside hitter Stacey Krebs was named the volleyball recipient for October 13. This is the first time this season that Krebs has garnered this award.

The 2007 CAC Player of the Year led the Sea Gulls to a perfect 5-0 week and the championship of the Green Terror Invitational held in Westminster, Md. SU swept the invitational as the maroon and gold won four matches over Penn St-Behrend (3-0), Gordon (3-0), McDaniel (3-0) and Gallaudet (3-0). Last Wednesday, SU defeated CAC foe Stevenson University on Dig Pink night by the same 3-0 score.

The Eldersburg, Md., native was honored as Most Valuable Player of the invitational hosted by McDaniel College after she contributed double-digit kills in three tournament matches and finished the week with 61 kills. She now has 311 kills for the season. In Saturday's victory over Penn St.-Behrend, Krebs tallied 17 kills, 12 digs, three blocks and no hitting errors.

This is the fourth time this season a Sea Gull has been recognized by the conference. Senior Nicole Massarelli has received the honor twice (September 8 and September 22). Junior Rachel Downes was the recipient for September 15.

The maroon and gold will host conference opponent York (Pa.) College on Wednesday, October 15, in the Maggs Center at 7 p.m. The evening contest will mark "Senior Night" as the Sea Gulls play their final regular-season home match of the season. The Sea Gulls will end the season with a five-match road trip that concludes with a CAC showdown with the Gallaudet Bison.
