SU takes care of business against Goucher

SALISBURY, Md. - Senior Abbey Petrecca had a huge game for the Salisbury University volleyball team as her double-double (30 assists, 21 digs) led the Sea Gulls to a 3-0 sweep of Goucher College here on Tuesday evening in Capital Athletic Conference action.

The Sea Gulls struggled in the first game before running off two straight wins to seal the 30-25, 30-19, 30-20 victory.

Salisbury (16-9, 4-1 CAC) battled back and fourth with Goucher (11-11, 0-5 CAC) in the first game, as neither team held a larger lead then three points until the very end. The Gophers tied the game at 23 after a long hit by the Sea Gulls landed out of bounds. Salisbury then surrendered the lead for the first time at the 49th point of the game, 25-24. The Sea Gulls then rallied behind the serving of Petrecca to win the game, 30-25.

Sophomore Jaime Marzocchi made 18 digs and freshman Savannah Tinsley added 11 of her own in the match. Sophomore outside hitter Stacey Krebs made 15 kills while fellow sophomore Lucy Rushing added nine kills as she was rated with the best kill percentage.

The Sea Gulls will next be in action this weekend as they participate in the two-day McDaniel Tournament in Westminster, Md.
