SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University
volleyball senior Abbey Petrecca is the new
all-time school record holder in assists as the four-year setter
broke the old mark of 4,269, previously held by Katie Korreck, on
October 4 against the University of Mary Washington.
Petrecca's record setting assist came when she set-up Lucy
Rushing in the first game against the Eagles. The Baldwin, Md.
native, finished with 40 assists for the match and currently has
4,309 career assists.
Korreck's former record stood since the 2000 season, when the
Sea Gulls finished 18-18 and won the Capital Athletic Conference
championship.
The lone senior on the team, Petrecca was honored as the 2003
CAC Rookie of the Year and was a two-time first team all-conference
selection in 2004 and 2005.
Petrecca and the Sea Gulls return to action on Tuesday, October
10, as they host the Goucher Gophers in a CAC match at the Maggs
Center with a scheduled 7 p.m. start.
