Petrecca and Krebs named All-CAC first team

SALISBURY, Md. - The 2006 Capital Athletic Conference volleyball all-conference team was announced this week and the Sea Gulls from Salisbury University had two players named to the first team. Senior Abbey Petrecca made her third straight appearance on the first team and was joined by first timer sophomore outside hitter Stacey Krebs.

Petrecca, a setter, led the Gulls to a 22-13 record and 5-2 in conference mark. The Gulls were knocked out in the CAC semifinals by eventual champs Gallaudet in five games (30-26, 30-23 20-30, 26-30, 14-16). Petrecca added 34 assists in the effort. The Baldwin, Md. native recorded 1,146 assists on the season in 117 games. The senior setter upped her career numbers to 4,708 assists (a school record), with a 9.65 assists per game average. To go along with her three straight All-CAC first team nominations, Petrecca also received CAC Rookie of the Year her freshman season in 2003. Petrecca was named to three all-tournament teams this season (Maryland Cup, SU and Green Terror Invitationals) and was named MVP of the SU Invitational.

Sophomore hitter Krebs led the team in kills on the year with 440. She now has a career mark of 775. The Eldersburg, Md. native had 3.83 kills per game which placed her among the conference leaders. Krebs was named to two all-tournament teams on the year (SU and Tufts Invitationals).
