Women's tennis drops 7-2 contest against No. 40 Oberlin

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team took a 7-2 loss at the hands of No. 40 Oberlin College on Monday afternoon.

The Sea Gulls (2-5) dropped five singles matches beginning the contest, with freshman Jordan Schaefer claiming a three-set affair at No. 5 by a 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 score.

Freshman Julia Kwedi and senior Claudia Lohn each went three sets in their matches. Kwedi fell 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot and Lohn dropped a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 contest at No. 3.

In the top singles spot, freshman Annika Kezman lost 6-4, 6-3 while sophomore Taylor Cooper suffered a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at No. 4 and junior Sage Cole fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.

Schaefer and Lohn combined for a point at No. 2 doubles, winning 9-7, while the Yeowomen (7-7) claimed the final two points. At the top doubles spot, Kezman and Kwedi fell 8-0, while Cooper and Cole lost at No. 3 by an 8-1 score.

The Sea Gulls are back in action on Wednesday, March 22 at Occidental College, beginning at 7 p.m., eastern time.
