Women's tennis picked third by CAC coaches

YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team has been picked to finish third in the Capital Athletic Conference, the league announced on Thursday in revealing the results of its preseason coaches' poll.

Salisbury picked up 37 points in the poll, while the University of Mary Washington claimed six first-place votes and 48 points to grab the top spot and Christopher Newport University sits second with 44 points and the two remaining first-place votes.

St. Mary's College of Maryland was picked fourth, earning 30 points, while York College of Pennsylvania (25 points), Southern Virginia University (17), Penn State University-Harrisburg (13), and Frostburg State University (10) round out the poll.

The Sea Gulls have played seven matches this season, beginning the year 6-1, with a 1-1 mark in CAC play so far, including a 9-0 win against Southern Virginia.

Salisbury is back in action on Friday, hosting Stevenson University at the SU Tennis Courts in a match scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
