FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 Capital Athletic Conference win against Frostburg State University on Saturday afternoon, in a match played at the University of Mary Washington.
The Sea Gulls dropped only one game in doubles play, to jump out to a 3-0 lead as the teams of sophomore Claudia Lohn and freshman Charlotte Walker, at No. 2, and junior Megan Knapp and freshman Megan Soderlund, at No. 3, each won 8-0. Senior Katie Youlios and junior Natalie Savage combined to pick up an 8-1 win at No. 1.
Salisbury (8-4, 2-0 CAC) won three matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores in singles play as Walker won by that score at No. 4, and Knapp did so at No. 5. Freshman Sage Cole grabbed a shutout win at No. 6.
Soderlund surrendered just one game, winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 while Youlios picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1, and Lohn took the No. 2 match, 6-3, 6-2, to complete the team sweep.
Salisbury will be back on the Eastern Shore on Sunday, March 29, playing York College of Pennsylvania and Penn State University-Harrisburg at the SU Tennis Courts, with the first match, against the Spartains, beginning at 9 a.m. The Sea Gulls will take on Penn State-Harrisburg at 1 p.m.
